Readers gathered at Smith’s Alternative in Canberra for the pre-launch of Itstetl Tonatij: Obsidian Sun by Nahua poet Juan Hernández Ramírez, as part of IMMERSIA Festival 2025.

The collection brings together Nahuatl, Spanish, English and Mandarin Chinese, exploring life, death and renewal. The event offered an introduction to the book and a space for sharing poetry across languages, with artist and publisher Gabriel Covarrubias.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the ANU School of Culture, History & Language, IMMERSIA Festival, Clandestino Canberra, the ANU Latin American Students Association and Smith’s Alternative for helping bring this pre-launch to life.
