Gabriel Covarrubias presented The Songs of Birds 鸟之歌 at the XVI Biennial Conference of the Association of Iberian and Latin American Studies of Australasia (AILASA), held at the Australian National University in Canberra.
Under the theme Transnational Textures, the conference explored connections between texts, cultures and places. Gabriel shared the ideas behind a book that brings Chinese calligraphy and ink painting into dialogue with Nahuatl poetry, inspired by Juan Hernández Ramírez’s Totomej Intlajtol / La Lengua de los Pájaros.
Thank you to conference organisers Dr Thomas Nulley-Valdés, Dr Fabricio Tocco and Associate Professor Robert Mason, and to Clandestino Canberra for the invitation and support.
